FLOTATION PLANTS

A flotation plant efficiently separates solids and oils from water.

BioAqua designs and manufactures rectangular and cylindrical flotation units, typically combined with a flocculation stage upstream and sludge dewatering downstream. Before the water enters the flotation tank, it is flocculated so that the very fine particles in the wastewater form small flocs. When mixed with microbubbles, these bubbles attach to the flocs and provide buoyancy, causing them to rise to the surface as a concentrated sludge layer that can be skimmed off.

The microbubble pump that produces the dispersion water is usually installed directly beneath the flotation tank and uses the floated, treated water as its source. The flotation plant can be configured either for bulk removal of sludge or as a polishing step for removing very fine residual particles.

Flotation units are typically installed in food industry plants such as a slaughterhouse or dairy.
