DRYING MATTER –
SLUDGE AND BIOMASS DRYING
Sludge and biomass can be dried to above 90% dry matter using BioAqua's Drying Matter technology. The feed is wet sludge or biomass, typically containing 60–85% water. During the drying process, the material is exposed to dry air that circulates continuously in alternating saturation and drying cycles.
This dry, slightly heated air becomes saturated with water vapour as it passes through the wet sludge. The moisture is then removed on a cooling surface, where the water condenses out of the drying air. The result is a dry, stable sludge with water content as low as 5%, and a separated water fraction that can be discharged or reused as process water.
Using BioAqua's Drying Matter systems, it is possible to achieve an energy consumption of approximately 300 kWh to evaporate 1,000 kg of water. This high efficiency is obtained by using heat pump technology, in which both cooling and heating are generated within the same closed process.
Our Drying Matter dryers are typically installed at private or municipal wastewater treatment plants.
